Terms of service

Ordering
Placing an order is an offer to buy. The contract forms when we email you to confirm. The order button says "Place order and pay" so there is no doubt that ordering costs money.
Prices are shown in your own currency where we sell in it, and include VAT or sales tax where that applies. Shipping is shown before you pay. If your book has to be sent from another country, import duty or local tax may be charged on arrival — see our shipping policy.
Personalisation is your responsibility, with our help
You tell us the child's name, the dedication and which photograph to use. Please check spelling: a name is spelled how you type it.
Two safeguards. You see a preview before you pay. And for 24 hours after ordering you may change a name, a spelling or the dedication at no cost. A person also reviews every book before printing and will query anything that looks like a mistake — but the final responsibility for what you typed is yours.
What you confirm when you upload a photograph
- You own the photograph or have permission to use it
- You are the child's parent or guardian, or you have their permission
- The image is of a real child and is not indecent, offensive or unlawful
We may refuse or cancel an order if an upload breaches this, and will refund it.
Rights in the book
The illustrations, text and design stay ours. You get the physical book and the right to use it personally — read it, photograph it, show it to whoever you like. You may not resell our illustrations or use them commercially.
You keep all rights in the photograph you upload. You grant us only the narrow licence needed to make and print your book.
Cancellation
Because each book is clearly personalised, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply (Consumer Rights Directive, Article 16(c) in the EU; Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, regulation 28(1)(b) in the UK; equivalent rules elsewhere). This does not limit your rights if a book is faulty, wrong or late — see our refund policy, which sets out what applies where you live.
Before production begins you may cancel for a full refund. In practice that is the 24-hour window.
Delivery
Estimates are given in the shipping policy. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a book is lost or damaged in transit we reprint it.
Our liability
We are liable for faulty or misdescribed goods under consumer law. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise our liability is limited to the price you paid.
Complaints and disputes
Write to first; we answer every complaint. If we cannot resolve it, EU consumers can contact their national consumer authority, or their local European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net) for a cross-border purchase.
Dutch law applies to this contract, and the Dutch courts have jurisdiction. That does not take anything away from you: wherever you live, you keep every protection your own mandatory consumer law gives you, and you may bring a claim in your own country's courts where its law allows. In Australia and New Zealand in particular, nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded.
